Associate Professor Dr Siti Hafsyah Idris

Specialisation and research interests lie in biosafety and environmental law, particularly in the relationship between Malaysia and public international law, the external dimension of Malaysia's biosafety policies, and Malaysia's contribution to global biosafety and environmental governance.

The area of interest pertains more generally to transnational environmental law (focusing on biosafety issues) and examining different aspects of the interplay between different layers of regulation in managing and governance environmental problems and the role of different actors in these processes.

This includes but not limited to: -
• Reviewing of the biosafety regulatory mechanisms;
• Developing biosafety guidelines and policies;
• Developing climate change policy on mental health;
• Evaluating the plastic waste regulatory mechanisms
• Examining multilateral environmental agreements concerned with biodiversity climate change pollution.
• Analysing the relationship between courts, adjudication, human rights, and the environment in the context of environmental law.
• Exploring the applicability of the environmental law principles in the multilateral environmental agreements.
• Analysing bioethics and its intersection with environmental justice protection.
• Undergoing training for drafting and negotiating international treaties.

Extensively conduct research and consultation on the responsibility and liability for environmental harm and how these questions have been addressed at the international law level and in Malaysia.
